Africa

Dust storm ahead, warned my mentor.
I had glasses on, and no need to worry;
"Keep your face down" was the instruction.
I proceeded to do the same, sans any hurry.

I am in Africa, the land of wonders;
Where the mighty Sahara on the North
Effortlessly mixes with deep rainforests.
I am in Africa, the land of faith;
Where people from diverse states
Have fought, since time immemorial,
To protect their belief from invaders,
As any sane man would do.
And they were hospitable enough,
That despite the so many civil wars they faced,
Foreigners have never thought it alien.
In fact, it was in Africa, that simple faith found its way
To civilization in ancient times. And to utter exploitation,
In the modern age.

Still, the faith was there. And it still is.
How long, my friend, shall we continue ignoring that faith?
Can you tell me just how long?

A continent of diversity.
Desert, the Nile, the Table Mountain,
The Rainforest, the Zebra, the Gnu.
Wild herds of deer running for life,
Packs of elephant strolling against a setting sun as bright as ever.

How can the people be so wrong?
